Exciting Opportunity: Process Technologist (K4) at Kilombero Sugar Company Limited

Job Purpose

Kilombero Sugar Company Limited is seeking a highly skilled Process Technologist (K4) to provide technical leadership in sugar production. The ideal candidate will drive operational excellence, ensure top-tier product quality, and support the implementation of the “Kilombero Way of Production”, aiming to position Kilombero as a best-in-class sugar producer. This role also involves preventive and reactive operational maintenance to optimize production capacity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and address production inefficiencies while implementing systems to meet daily targets.
  • Provide technical support to Production Team Leads and Foremen, including conducting Root Cause Analyses (RCAs) and troubleshooting production challenges.
  • Mentor and coach team members to enhance skill levels and operational effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance and Optimization teams to resolve cross-shift production issues and promote teamwork.
  • Oversee daily operations of the maintenance team, ensuring safety and efficiency.
  • Develop and manage the operational maintenance budget in collaboration with finance and production teams.
  • Monitor team performance, address challenges, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Uphold standards for cleaning, equipment maintenance, and ensure compliance with set procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of Equipment, Bill of Materials (BOM), and Work Orders (WOs) within SAP.
  • Foster a conducive working environment that enables team growth and development.
  • Drive continuous improvement by implementing best practices and conducting regular inspections.
  • Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to track progress and flag potential concerns.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Process Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least five (5) years of experience in a Sugar Factory, with expertise in sugar production, process controls, refining, packaging, and laboratory analysis.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to interpret data effectively.
  • Proven leadership in organizing work and influencing positive outcomes.
  • Excellent track record in coaching and team development.
  • Deep understanding of plant operations and institutional knowledge of sugar production.
