About the Role

Aligned with Nutrition International’s strategic priorities in Tanzania, the Supply Chain Officer (SCO) will work under the guidance of the Senior Program Officer (SPO) to provide technical and managerial support to government health management teams and healthcare providers at national, regional, and council levels. The role involves ensuring the efficient and timely supply of Vitamin A capsules (VACs) across Tanzania in collaboration with key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, forecasting, and quantification of Vitamin A capsules, ensuring a smooth supply chain from procurement to distribution.

  • Collaborate with relevant Ministry of Health (MoH) teams to develop detailed costed logistics plans covering importation, transportation, storage, and distribution.

  • Monitor and track inventory levels to prevent stock shortages and wastage.

  • Provide technical support and training to local health authorities and supply chain stakeholders on best practices for managing Vitamin A distribution.

  • Assist implementing partners in developing effective workplans and budgets for NI’s direct delivery of VAC support.

  • Work closely with HQ procurement teams to ensure the timely acquisition and shipment of Vitamin A capsules.

  • Coordinate with clearance service providers to facilitate efficient customs clearance, proper storage, and timely transportation under the required conditions.

  • Develop contingency plans to address potential disruptions in the Vitamin A supply chain.

  • Ensure full compliance with national health commodity regulations.

  • Foster strong communication and collaboration between government agencies, UN bodies, NGOs, and other stakeholders to optimize the supply chain and enhance coordination.

About You

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management, Pharmacy, Public Health (specializing in health commodities), or a related field. A Master’s degree is an added advantage.

  • Additional training in epidemiology, community health, health commodity management, and research methodologies is highly desirable.

  • At least 5 years of experience in health commodities supply chain management, public health, or health system strengthening in Tanzania or internationally.

  • Proven experience in program implementation, supervision, monitoring, and evaluation.

  • Familiarity with Tanzania’s healthcare system.

  • Strong report writing and data management skills.

  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
