HSE Officer Position at Sotta Mining Corporation Limited
🔹 Position: HSE Officer (1 Position)
🔹 Contract Type: Fixed-Term Contract
🔹 Location: Sengerema District, Mwanza
Key Responsibilities:
✅ Identify and assess potential environmental impacts linked to HSE operations at the site.
✅ Actively participate in daily Toolbox and Pre-Start Meetings, assisting HSE Representatives and Supervisors in conducting effective sessions.
✅ Support the implementation of Perseus Mining’s risk and fatal management protocols, including Hazard Identification (Hazard ID), Job Hazard Analyses (JHA), and structured risk assessments.
✅ Deliver General Site Inductions and HSE training sessions, ensuring all site personnel meet the required competency levels.
✅ Regularly inspect site Noticeboards to verify the display of up-to-date and relevant HSE information such as Incident Alerts and Safety Committee Meeting Minutes.
✅ Conduct weekly checks on all safety monitoring equipment, ensuring compliance with manufacturer standards (e.g., speed detection devices, alcohol test units, gas detectors).
✅ Assist departments in setting up Safe Work Zones, such as Confined Space Entry and Working at Heights, based on expertise and site requirements.
Qualifications & Experience:
🎓 A tertiary qualification in Occupational Health & Safety (OHS), along with a National Occupational Safety and Health Course (NOSHC) certification.
📜 NEBOSH certification.
🚗 A valid driver’s license with the ability to operate manual vehicles.
Skills & Required Experience:
📌 At least five years of experience in high-risk industries such as heavy industry or construction, with a minimum of two years in a mining environment.
