Position Details
🔹 Job Title: Underground Shift Supervisor
📍 Location: Geita Gold Mine, Geita
📄 Contract Type: Full-time
Role Purpose
As an Underground Shift Supervisor, you will be responsible for coordinating underground mining activities, ensuring that resources, machinery, and personnel are effectively allocated to meet production targets. Your role is critical in maintaining a safe and productive work environment while ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
Key Responsibilities
✅ Safety & Compliance
- Enforce safety regulations and promptly report any safety concerns.
- Conduct safety briefings, toolbox talks, and work planning meetings.
- Ensure all employees, subcontractors, and visitors adhere to AUMS safety standards.
- Submit incident reports to the Site Project Manager for any occurrences during shifts.
✅ Operational Management
- Plan and oversee daily mining operations to meet production targets.
- Supervise mining activities in compliance with relevant Acts and Regulations.
- Provide leadership and direction to site crews on rosters and daily operations.
- Oversee shift personnel training to ensure safe task execution.
- Liaise with contractors to ensure their activities align with AUMS safety standards.
✅ Team & Performance Management
- Ensure new staff receive thorough inductions based on company and client requirements.
- Assess workforce performance, identifying training and development needs.
- Monitor productivity, ensuring efficient utilization of equipment and personnel.
Required Qualifications & Experience
✔ Experience
- Minimum 10 years of experience in mechanized hard rock underground mining.
- At least 5 years in a supervisory role within an underground mining environment.
✔ Certifications & Skills
- Underground Shift Supervisor Certification (mandatory).
- Senior First Aid Certificate.
- Management or leadership development training.
- Valid Tanzanian driver’s license with proficient driving skills.
- Strong knowledge of drilling, blasting, and mechanized mining techniques.
- Familiarity with mining equipment, hazard identification, and risk mitigation.
- Ability to read mine plans and understand mining regulations.
- Effective communication and leadership skills.
