Senior Driver Position at the Embassy of Ireland, Dar es Salaam
The Embassy of Ireland in Tanzania is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Driver to join our team. Our mission is to represent and safeguard Ireland’s interests and values abroad, contributing to strong diplomatic relations and ensuring operational excellence. This role offers a unique opportunity to support the work of the Embassy while ensuring safe and efficient transport for the Ambassador and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
The Senior Driver will undertake a variety of responsibilities essential to the daily operations of the Embassy. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Providing transportation services for the Ambassador, Embassy staff, and official visitors.
Ensuring the safety and security of passengers while driving official vehicles.
Managing vehicle maintenance, insurance, and technical inspections.
Recording mileage, fuel usage, and toll expenses accurately.
Utilizing GPS navigation tools to optimize routes.
Assisting with logistical arrangements for Embassy events, including transporting and setting up equipment.
Handling daily collection and delivery of official correspondence.
Supervising the transport team and reporting to the Properties Management Officer.
Facilitating travel for staff to official meetings, events, and field visits outside Dar es Salaam.
Carrying out additional responsibilities as required to support Embassy operations.
Essential Requirements:
Candidates must meet the following criteria to be considered:
Fluency in both English and Kiswahili (language proficiency test will be conducted).
Extensive professional driving experience, particularly at the executive level.
Possession of a valid Class C driving license with a clean, accident-free record over the past three years.
Trade Test Grade II Certificate from VETA or another recognized institution.
Completion of National Form VI education.
Strong knowledge of Dar es Salaam and Tanzania’s road network, regulations, and laws.
Competence in security management and operational procedures.
Sound judgment and decision-making skills.
Proficiency in administrative tasks, including Microsoft Office applications.
High levels of reliability, discretion, and commitment.
Team-oriented approach with flexibility to work extended hours when necessary.
Familiarity with GPS and digital mapping tools.
Willingness to undergo medical and health checks.
Legal eligibility to reside and work in Tanzania prior to recruitment.
Employment Terms & Benefits:
Contract Type: Fixed-term employment contract.
Location: Embassy of Ireland, Dar es Salaam.
Working Hours: 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday (08:00 AM - 04:30 PM).
Salary: TSH 1,685,909 per month / TSH 21,916,819 annually (inclusive of the 13th-month salary).

Selection Procedure:
Shortlisting will be conducted based on application volume and qualifications.
